It’s common
knowledge that finding activities to do with your kids is hard. Very rewarding,
but HARD.
Unfortunately,
most kids don’t appreciate the renaissance art galleries or botanical gardens
which older people go nuts over
There always
seems to be an eternal conflict in family households attempting to satisfy every
members desires when spending time together. Most of the time, as parents out there know,
it's their little ones who get their way, leaving parents and older siblings to endure hours
of emotionally draining stress. NOT PLEASANT.
However,
what if I told you that it doesn’t need to be like this? What if I told you
that Kilmarnock has many experiences available to excite the whole family?
I present below.... an ultimate family day out in Kilmarnock. You’re welcome.
Go ape in Jungle Madness Soft Play!
Ah, the soft play! a haven of fun and endless possibility for all ages. Yes, that goes for parents too.
This isn’t just
any ordinary soft play, there are high speed drop and astro slides, a built-in sports
court with footballs and basketballs, and coin operated Go Kart racing which
both kids and parents can take pleasure in.
Whilst you parents
may not be able to fit in the main attraction, don’t worry, Jungle Madness has
you covered!
Go take advantage of The Jungle Café, featuring comfortable seating, high quality healthy food, and freshly ground coffee that even Tarzan would be jealous of!
Jungle Madness offers the one thing that every parent desires; a good break (only when you are not too busy supervising your kids!)
Make a splash in The Galleon Leisure Centre!
After sweltering
for hours in the jungle (soft play), head to The Galleon Leisure Centre to cool
down and refresh!
Like the
name suggests, there is plenty of fun to be had involving water-based activities. The main
attraction includes a 25 metre, 6 lane Swimming Pool where both kids and
parents can have fun and bond with each other. And is there a better way to conclude (or begin) this fun
experience with an epic water slide to slide down!?!?
If you are looking to enjoy the water, but in a slightly different format, then go check
out the ice rink on offer ( cause it’s frozen water...get it?)
Ice Skating
is certainly not the easiest of activities, particularly for kids, but The Galleon
Leisure Centre ensures that everyone can have fun regardless of skill level. If
you and your kids are not confident, make use of the trusty penguins (
unfortunately not those from Antarctica, but rather a skating aid lookalike).
You can also
hire out their expansive games hall where staff will help organise fun
sporting activities for the whole family to enjoy, such as five-a-side football,
basketball, badminton amongst other things, particularly beneficial for when
the weather is rubbish (so every week then).

Adrenaline rush in The Garage
The Garage
is arguably the entertainment hub of Kilmarnock and one that will certainly interest
the whole family.
On offer is bowling,
featuring “12 lanes of fun” and various ball sizes and ramps to ensure strikes and
spares for all.
There is
also Go Karting on a 200m track featuring “tricky bends” and “sweeping
chicanes” with both 120cc (8 years +) and 200cc (14 years +) karts to cater to
all ages, ensuring that everyone can have a high speed, exciting and
exhilarating experience that will leave them thinking they would be able to cut
it in Formula 1.
Additionally,
there are several arcade games present such as air hockey, claw machines
and driving games to add more thrill to an already enthralling experience.
Psst… The
Garage converts into a trendy and lively night club by evening, with regular guest
DJ’s and great promotions. So, parents can have a little more fun when the kids
are in bed.
Despite the
crazy amount of energy that kids seem to possess, it is certain that they will be worn
out after having so much fun in these activities listed (a parent’s dream!). However,
they may then become “hangry” (a parent’s nightmare), so it must be…..
In a
previous post, I listed some of my favourite spots to dine in Kilmarnock (go
check it out if you haven’t done so already!) and whilst these restaurants have
suitable and delicious kids menus on offer, the alternatives listed below are
