A family that visits Kilmarnock together, stays together!

It’s common knowledge that finding activities to do with your kids is hard. Very rewarding, but HARD. Unfortunately, most kids don’t appreciate the renaissance art galleries or botanical gardens which older people go nuts over There always seems to be an eternal conflict in family households attempting to satisfy every members desires when spending time together.   Most of the time, as parents out there know, it's their little ones who get their way, leaving parents and older siblings to endure hours of emotionally draining stress. NOT PLEASANT. However, what if I told you that it doesn’t need to be like this? What if I told you that Kilmarnock has many experiences available to excite the whole family? I present below.... an ultimate family day out in Kilmarnock.    You’re welcome. Go ape in Jungle Madness Soft Play! Ah, the soft play!   a haven of fun and endless possibility for all ages. What do you mean? Killieween!?

Happy Halloween!!!.... or shall I say Killieween!?! Yes, it's that time of year again where we indulge in many tricks and treats, however, the spookiest of them all is Kilmarnock celebrating Halloween on a completely different date to the rest of the world! It's completely true, the 31st of October and "Halloween" means "hee haw" for Killie citizens.  You'll find no trick or treaters, no spooky decorations and not even one ghastly ghoul (well, most of the time anyway). Whilst the whole world are hanging out with witches, zombies and vampires. Kilmarnock is already putting up Christmas trees and the only scary thing you'll find  is the ghastly smell of rotting pumpkins. "Killieween" is where it's at and in this special post, I will uncover the origins of this local phenomenon and inform of the many spine-tingling attractions on offer this year in Kilmarnock for people of all ages to enjoy. Killieween Explained. In Kilmarnock, the festi...

Pie Merchants - Kilmarnock FC gameday experience

As a Killie fan, I have always been subjected to comments associating Kilmarnock FC as a " pie distributor"  and not a legitimate, respected football club as they rightfully are. Yes, our Kilmarnock pies are arguably the best in international football, but we are so much more than that. When you encounter Killie and their football, you experience a level of passion, energy and skill unbeknownst to visitors. Ok...maybe I am slightly over-exaggerating, but it is true that watching Kilmarnock FC in Rugby Park is an unmissable experience with a lot of particularities involved that could create some unwarranted stress for newcomers. Like before, I am here to guide you through this and ensure that you feel encouraged to visit Kilmarnock and its many attractions such as this one. Therefore, I present: Your Guide to Gameday: Pre-Game:  Before you arrive, please do plan your journey and means of getting to Rugby Park in advance. - If arriving by car, please note that the car park at R...

Discovering Dean Park

Greetings everyone and a very warm welcome to my first post on this blog! This first post shall provide you all with insight into one of Kilmarnock's oldest and most valuable "institutions": Dean Castle and Country Park.   I recently visited the Dean Park again after a long time and those same feelings of bewilderment and excitement, first experienced in childhood, rushed back to me in an instant. I'm sure fellow Kilmarnock citizens know exactly what I'm talking about. There's so much value and importance associated with this attraction and I will uncover those key elements which everyone has to go experience and interact with. So, what are we waiting for? let's get out in the fresh air! The above map displays a map of Dean Castle and Country Park with key areas pointed out and referenced in this article. The Castle: Dean Castle ( 1 ) , the cornerstone of this attraction, offers an interactive insight into the history of the castle and its ownership by t...
